About Me

Hi! I am a freshman in high-school. I attend a great school, with excellent teachers and amazing students. My portfolio might have one overall theme: growth. I started the school year well, but I ran into some problems and had real trouble getting back on track. -Especially in English. I had to grow a lot and in a short time.

We are required to put together a portfolio blog, and this is it. A few of the highlights of my growth this year:   I chose to write about immersive reading because it has made my class a lot easier, and as the name implies, I am learning to immerse myself in my reading. As an example of being immersed in the reading, in Purple Hibiscus, I felt for the family at each up and each down. I chose the hits and misses that I did because I had some major ones and they helped me learn more about myself. An example of a hit would include my Purple Hibiscus annotations, and an example of a miss would be my literary analysis on Lord of The Flies. This leads to my next point about revisions. I chose to redo my Lord of the Flies analysis because it was my worst grade and I hoped to learn from it and apply my new skills that I have mastered this year. I will continue to improve in my immersive reading. The annotations seem to be the most important for my success. I believe I will return to enjoying English more and more again as I continue to work on these skills.

Happy reading!
